Assateague Lighthouse, Virginia Milky Way
The Assateague Lighthouse standing guard on Assateague Island near Chincoteague, shining brightly 154 feet above sea level.
With the light swinging by every three seconds, timing was critical to avoid the glare in the camera lens. The shutter could only be left open for approximately two seconds, which also meant an incredibly high ISO of 10,000 and an f-stop of 1.4 on the Sigma 20mm lens. Not an ideal scenario for Milky Way imaging, but the scene was too inviting to pass by. To help improve the signal to noise ratio, thirty images were taken then stacked together in AutoStakkert.
